Languages of Light: Speaking in Tongues of the Divine

art: Krystleyez

Over the last decade, as I’ve traveled this journey of Awakening, there’s been a common process. It goes a bit like this. When I met my guru, I was led by my heart & soul song/intuition. I’m called ~ I follow. Receiving Shaktipat initiation that first week with my teacher, I had no idea what I was stepping into.  Thereafter, my life was forever changed. As the  Kundalini/Shakti energy began spontaneously unwinding, I was very green as to what was taking place. I began to research after the fact, searching by what my experiences were teaching me.

Years down the road, as I found my awareness connecting to other realms and being supported and assisted by higher beings, such as Native American Grandmothers and the energies of a few Goddesses, such as Kali Ma, Bhuvaneshwari, or Chhinnamasta and Sundari, I stumbled as I went. First there were feelings of apprehension and eventually trust. I sought out sources which I felt were grounded, based in both tradition and experiential wisdom, from which I gathered information. The confirmations I continue to return to, as to whether I was traveling a ‘true’ path (for myself), are through inquiring within:

Am I becoming more loving? Am I becoming more peaceful? Am I becoming less judgmental? Am I finding more unity in life and the world or am I creating/partaking in division? Am I growing in more Faith and Trust in God/Goddess/Love/Compassion?

As my healing work began to evolve more intuitively to include sounds, tones, or seed mantra’s, I sought out information that reflected what I was experiencing, in order gain a deeper understanding and trust. Each step of the way, revealed my own fears, uncertainty, and subconsciously held beliefs from the world’s collective unconscious/conscious thought forms. This revealing is also simultaneous clearings of falsehoods held within all of us, to varying degrees.

All of this is an personal way of introducing more about what is referred to at this time on our planet as Light Language.

When you take a moment to fantasize or imagine about what our evolutionary process as human beings will look like, what do you see? What is the manifestation of our spiritual evolution, expansion, our Awakening?  What will we look like as a more highly evolved race?

I don’t think I’d ever really asked those questions in the past. I felt aligned with what the the Yogic traditions taught, as it matched my experience.  Though my mind has been rattled in the past during times of expansion, channeling the Divine Languages of Light has been no exception. Furthermore, it compelled me to ask new questions.

My process of exploring these energy expressions has been the same as each chapter prior. Experiencing, learning and integrating. As I experienced the expansive heart opening, the profound shifts of consciousness toward Love, Collective upliftment, and Clarity, I followed the process I’ve been repeating for years.

Having some background in religious studies, I couldn’t help but turn my attention to a few of the New Testament’s accounts of speaking in tongues. Obviously, the most well-known story regarding this topic, falls on the day of Pentecost, which I’m sure springs to mind for many. We can also find this topic in the books of Mark, Acts, 1 Corinthians. These events are also talked about in the Old Testament, such as, Isaiah, Roman’s, Job and Jude.

There are Divine emanations, luminations, radiations, pouring forth for your heart to receive!

Though this new phenomenon of Light Language, that is touching many people outside of religious teachings today, it is also a very ancient manifestation of spiritual nature. Throughout time these practices have been honored, by the Pentecostal Church’s, Christian Charismatics, and the Church of Latter Day Saints. Passages are also revealed in the Gnostic Gospels, of repeating letters indicating sounds or tones, which have been believed to be indications of a ‘Divine Language.’

In Christian understanding, speaking in tongues is understood to be a gift of the Holy Spirit. In Hinduism or the Tantric Yoga traditions, we find it is a manifestation of the Shakti energy/the Kundalini. In Judaism, particularly the Hasidic Jewish practices, we can find these mystical, spontaneous occurrences in the repetitive sounds of the ‘nigunim.’ Speaking in tongues have also been witnessed in Shamanism and by the wandering spiritual seekers of the East.

I’m truly a detective at heart ( another term I sometimes feel is aligned for me as a seeker) and I love following clues and witnessing the marriage of intellect and intuition, mind and heart, masculine and feminine. I always rejoice in findings!  Any of you studying linguistics may be familiar with the term, ‘Glossolalia’: ‘speak in, with, or by tongues,’ otherwise known as ‘speaking in tongues.’ According to Wikipedia, this is defined as:

“The fluid vocalizing of speech-like syllables that lack any comprehensible meaning. In religious practices it is believed to be a divine language.”

Xenolalia is a term that is defined as:

“Phenomenon when a language spoken is a natural language, previously unknown to the speaker.”

In 1972, William J. Samarin,a linguist professor from the University of Toronto, published the first piece of work on Glossolalia. He traveled, spending time in both private/public meetings with many groups incorporating speaking in tongues in their spiritual practices. From Christians in Italy, The Netherlands, Jamaica to Canada, he documented his findings. In the United States he connected with other spiritual groups such as, the Snake Handlers in the Appalachians, Puerto Ricans in the Bronx, and Russian Spiritual Christians in Los Angeles.

What he found, was that the languages spoken, though unknown to the speakers nor known as familiar languages on our planet, had the qualities of a ‘real’ language. The languages had an accent, rhythm, intonation, pauses that broke up speech into distinct units, pitch, volume, speed, and intensity.

I’d like to interject here on a personal level, to confirm from my experience that all of this is correct, with the additional qualities I’ve noticed of, ‘personality’ and emotion. As new languages stream through, teaching me as ‘they speak’, it’s clear that they carry healing energy. That they uplift our mind, heart, and spirit. And that the purpose is to bring a divine connection deeper into our humanity.  See Light Language Healing

History shows that they have had many names: Heavenly Language, Singing into the Spirit, Spiritual Songs, Angelic Languages, Esoteric Speech.

This phenomenon was experienced and recorded in the 12th Century by Hildigard of Bingen as songs, referred to as ‘Concerts in the Spirit.’ In the 17th Century, by the Quakers led by Edward Burroughs. He was quoted as saying, “We speak in new tongues as the Lord gave us utterances and His Spirit led us.”

In our more modern age, this time of Ascension, as some are calling it, we have perhaps an expanding understanding of spirituality. We are learning that there are many dimensions existing simultaneously. We are experiencing a mass Awakening (whether we see it’s fruits or not) of consciousness, and being called more fully into our Divine Heart.

The recognition that is growing is that these profoundly powerful, Angelic languages of the Divine, are also inclusive of the Light Languages of our Galactic families from other planets and star systems. The new understanding is, that we humans are being assisted by many beings, of many origins, from many realms of Light, in order to heal our human-ness, our separation from God/Goddess/Source/Great Spirit.

These languages of divine tongue are creating an infusion of Divine Love and Light into our hearts and onto this planet. Master Yogananda, in the spiritual classic, ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ states:

‘A yogi who through perfect meditation has merged his consciousness with the Creator perceives the cosmic essence of light (vibrations of life force).’  He goes on to say that ‘…the essence of creation is light.’

Yogananda also references Jesus’ statement to show truth being described, through different traditions:‘If thine eye be single, thy whole body will be filled with light.’

What if we have now reached an age, which is expressed with science monitoring the Earth’s rise in frequency, hence our rise in frequency, that we, as humans, will be ready to hold and assimilate higher vibrations of Light?

And what if the assistance from many higher forces are allowing us to ‘upshift’ our own evolution with codes and frequencies of Light, for greater ease and grace? The proof is in the pudding, so to speak, as far as the positive affects a growing number are feeling due to the increase of energy healing methods, such as,  Reiki, Sound Baths, Qi Gong, Yoga, Meditation, Shamanism, etc. and now we are receiving the healing of Light Languages.

We are in a new age in which many old paradigms will and are falling away. With that, new technologies are being ushered in, supporting the rising of consciousness and heart-centered connection. This connection supports the recognition of our own Wholeness & Wholiness, the honoring of one another, the Earth and all of Her inhabitants. Heaven and Earth, dancing in harmony.

As they say, ‘Nothing is new under the sun.’ The ancient languages are returning to guide us. Those things which have been unseen and hidden, are now being revealed. We are able to see and hear, only that which we are able and ready to truly receive. Words can be misleading and create a division. The mind sees pieces of the whole, and as this divine unfolding continues, more shall be revealed. I trust that as we all gain a more expansive perspective and heightened perceptions, we will be more able to access our own inner Love & Light & the Wholeness that exists.

With Love ~

  1. Thank you for sharing your experiences with speaking in tongues! My background is in Christianity and particularly in the Pentecostal Church, where I received what they refer to as the ‘baptism of the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues’. It was the result of dedication, discipline, fasting and prayer. While kneeling and praying at the altar during a church service (my prayer was actually more personal that corporate in that moment), my mouth and tongue began to move on their own and I began to utter unfamiliar yet rhythmic sounds. This went on for as long as I was on the altar and even when I stood up to praise God.

I give that background because now I have shifted into the metaphysical space with meditation, chakras, kundalini awakening, Tantra, etc. and I speak in tongus all the time now. At my desk while working. It can be triggered by a sound, a vibration, even a thought. My desire for some time now has been to understand/interpet the language I am speaking. Some have dismissed it as gibberish but my knower inside knows it is absolutely a heavenly language. I have yet to do my first thought, which is ask in meditation or while meditating at my altar.

Does this any of this resonate with you? I’d love to hear more about your current journey!

  2. Greetings Sophia! What a beautiful share. Thank you for that & for resonating. Living in Oklahoma these days, I’ve really appreciated many of my clients either feeling really open to the LL because of the familiarity based on religious upbringing or having an opportunity to heal wounds by a different approach.

I’m curious, do you notice the languages rising to the surface when your stressed or dropping into thought-forms/behaviors that don’t support your highest alignment? Or have you worked with them for any healing?

My journey began through a Kundalini awakening, which is well documented in my book. However, it was over a decade later that the languages began, as spontaneously as all of my previous experiences. Every now & then I can interpret,. I know some who can do that effortlessly. I’ve met people who can write, speak, sing, or interpret, and some who can do all. I usually just follow what my guidance reveals to me. It’s my primary healing modality for clients to clear & raise frequency ~ rapidly!

I love it and feel such gratitude & joy for this connection to deeper/higher aspects of myself. I know more & more people are speaking LL & see it as a part of our evolution, deeper connection through heart/Love frequencies.

So lovely to connect with you & grateful for the ‘follow’. Perhaps there are more conversations ahead!

  3. Hello Sophia and Lotus,
I totally relate with Sophia but I have been awake only for the last couple of months, was slowly waking up since early 2022. I do speak in tongues still from my background as pentecostal. I rejoice and revel in it actually. It sounds a perfectly legit language with reach vocabulary and grammar from the way I feel. But I never knew what it meant, except I KNOW I am super energized after speaking in tongues for few minutes. I feel unspeakable joy and massive energy at the belly, Solar Plexus Chacra area, I don’t know if there is any relationship to this chacra. It is an entirely different mind-body state from mediation. Sometimes I do both alternating in one session and I usually get up significantly energized, calm, and gratified.

    Thank you!

  4. Greetings Tesfu ~ Thank you for sharing. I agree with you … the energization, the Joy, and calm. It’s been a prominent blessing in my life and definitely has guided my path into accessing more Love, connection to Source & my our Soul Presence, as well as expansion on all levels. I believe more of us will continue to speak these languages as time goes on. It is a next phase of spiritual evolution for many! Blessings to you! xoxo
