One of the easiest ways to navigate a positive sensory life I’ve found, is to follow the YES!
This is an internal sensation, where mind~body~spirit come into integration & alignment.
The Yes! carries qualities of enthusiasm, of flow, of ease & trust. One may feel it too, as the intuitive guidance or a gut instinct. It’s an embodiment of the inner voice that sings from our core, “Yes! This way!”
As a lover & teacher of Nia Technique, everything I experience or teach through dance/movement, I take also dance it off the dance floor, out of the realm of ’exercise’ into life. As this embodiment practice is embraced by students/practitioners, I’ve witnessed this integration activated in them as well. It blossoms into Dancing Through Life.
This Yes! can be resonant with the Nia’s first Principle, ‘The Body Thrives on Dynamic Ease.’ This is the first of 5 basic principles of The Body’s Way. Through movement of the body or through our daily life, the Yes! feels like Dynamic Ease.
The somatic experience of Dynamic Ease give us a sense of flow, effortlessness, a grounded empowerment, the sense of grace or elegance. We are in the moment, trusting in any adjustments that need to be made … in how our body moves as an example of physical attention in class, and while knowing the next right choice or decision, as we dance through life.
When we’re practicing the choreography of a new class for instance, we’re in the unknown. Our bodies and brain are waiting for the next cue from the instructor. What’s that next movement? There’s an awkwardness, maybe we feel some clumsiness, or unstable in transitions of moves. This is completely normal. However, after we’ve practiced the choreography a couple of times, our coordination is increased, we have a body memory of the next transition the body needs to make. We experience a bit more ease.
After we’ve danced this same song or routine a few times, we don’t need to think about what the body needs to do anymore. The body now is hitting it’s stride, it’s memory. The flow is entering in, the music is recognized, and thebody has become familiar with the perfect way Your Body dances the movements. You’re in Dynamic Ease.
Empowered. Fluid. Grace. The Ahhh! Yes! This feels good. I’m aligned, grounded, embodied, expanded, present … Whole. Unfurling ourselves through movement and the body, we discover and remember parts of our beauty that are hard to access in others ways.
Movement enables us to magically give life to new expressions of self, without thought, need, or agenda. It’s a completely organic and surprising journey, Home to our fullness. A deepened and expanded self, then creates a deepened and expanded life.
This is the same process we learn as we live in the faith & trust of our Yes! At first we may rely on the brain to make our choices & decisions. We weigh out pros & cons. We think our way through life. As we become more sacredly embodied, we learn to feel our way through life. Marrying somatic wisdom with thinking, with the body as the leader rather than the brain, we operate holistically.
Over time, our sensory IQ develops, as does our intuition, our interconnectedness with all of Life & ourselves, & our deeper knowing communicates with us, through an inner enthusiastic Yes! Life becomes fluid, graceful, divinely aligned with a sense of dynamic ease.
When we speak of Nia as not only a workout for the body, but for all realms of who we are, it has the powerful potential to become an amazing lifestyle path & practice, of empowered embodiment & wholeness.
Looking forward to dancing in many realms with you in 2024 at The Yoga Room in Tulsa
In Joy & In Love,
