It’s that time of year again. The wheel has turned and we are just at the cusp of the winter holidays ~ Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years. Before we even begin, lets first recognize that the expectation that we are supposed to be happy, joyous and free during these months, can be a heavy load for some. I feel it’s important to be sensitive to the variety of experiences people have at this time of year.
Not all experience the holidays with such an outlook. Some people experience feeling of loss and loneliness. Others feel the stress of money. Introverts may feel overwhelmed with socializing. And those who don’t have close, loved ones in their lives can feel very isolated. It’s important to remember, that even though there can be great joy for many, these holidays are indeed a collective thought form that we have been programmed to buy into. And the key word here is ‘buy’. ie spend money, over indulge, experience excess, thanks to corporate agenda’s. But that is NOT what this post is about, lest I get distracted. However, it is a way of consoling those who may feel the rumblings of ‘Bah! Humbug’ settling in. It is ok if these days, are just another day.
I don’t want to focus on the holidays per se. Instead, I’d like to talk about the creators that we are. That regardless how we hold the holidays, that just like all days, we have the power to cultivate our own inner experience.
Do you believe this to be true?
That’s an important question to begin with. If we don’t have that faith and trust in our ability to literally create the emotional experience in our lives, that we choose, then we won’t. Now, I’m not going to blow rainbows and sparkles up you know where.
It’s not always easy.
It does require acknowledging & understanding what causes you unhappiness, restlessness, fear, anxiety, hate, and self-rejection.
It requires commitment & dedication to your own healing & self wisdom.
And, it actually takes practice, flexing your emotional/mental muscles, to create and maintain high frequency states of being.
But the good news is, you CAN begin to make shifts, even if you haven’t yet realized that your Soul/Highest Self long for your person-hood to be Happy, Joyous and Free!
Let’s start, shall we?
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
Breathe slowly, deeply, until you feel yourself relaxing.
After you’ve settled into yourself for a moment, bring a memory of something that you can’t help but smile about.
Allow the smile to take over!
(My memory is of my dogs that I used to have. As soon as I see them in my minds eye, my heart explodes, and an uncontrollable smile takes over my whole face.)
Find that kind of memory and really FEEL the emotion. Keep your eyes closed and just feel all of that for a couple of minutes.
Let this frequency vibrate through your being
Once you have connected the memory, to the feeling, continue to let this experience/feeling/frequency vibrate through your being.
Allow yourself to feel how amazing the feeling, feels.
This is the entry point.
Every morning before you rise, every night as you’re going to sleep, any moment that opens up for you during the day … Close your eyes, breathe, let the smile bloom across your face, feel this memory fill your being with whatever the positive qualities are that plugs you into your Light.
This is Your Light. Your Radiance. Your Joy. Your Enthusiasm.
Soon, you won’t need the memory. Your smile will become enlivening. Your physiology & biology, brain & heart will soon rewire itself, enabling you to access higher emotional states, raising your frequency, with ease & grace!
This practice will also help you to become aware of those habitual thoughts, feelings, stories, stresses, decisions, and beliefs, that literally bring you down. That is, lower your frequency.
That is, bring about depression, sadness, anger … you get the picture. There’s no need for concern or judgment. This is simply information pointing you in the direction of your healing work. The denser feelings are simply teachers, pointing out where we still carry pain or dishonor of self, wearing a myriad of masks.
You will get to choose, over & over,
“Do I wish to continue to cultivate/create my own Joy?”
“Am I willing to do the inner work?”
Or, “Do I choose to remain, maintain, in a space that either brings me suffering or resting in a comfortable status quo.”
To choose more happiness, joy, freedom, peace, heart connections, abundance, and celebration of life, will require some effort. There’s no quick, lasting fix. The only way to the other side, is through the denser frequencies and raising them through deeper & higher awareness.
So, as we enter this holiday season, wherever you find yourself emotionally, be gentle with the preciousness that you are. May you find this simple practice a helpful tool to increase the joy that you may already be filled with, because there is no end to how high we can go! And if you are feeling sad, lonely, or frustrated, I hope this assists in bringing you some levity of spirit, to your heart & mind.
